10070 represents a deep fill under SU 10031 in the far eastern end of the trench. 10070 contained high amounts of ceramics and stone, and the soil matrix was relatively loose overall. Underneath 10070 is the cut 10039 and the fill of the cut 10072. 10070 is one of many large levelling fills found at the eastern end of the trench, whose purpose is difficult to ascertain.
